We took a long weekend trip to camp at Rock Creek about 20 miles south of Mammoth. We had never camped there before, but Ry did his research and we ended up with the best spot in the whole site. :) We were right on the creek and had a wide open site. We however did not take a picture of the site, but here are two pics of the creek that ran through the camp. The second one Ry took in the morning with the fog on it.
Our first hike of the trip was on Friday. It was a 7 mile round trip hike to the top of Mono pass and back down. Boomer did great and there was even snow for us to walk through at the top.
Then on Saturday we drove to Yosemite. We just couldn't be that close without going there as we love Yosemite. With Boomer we could only walk around the valley on the paved roads and bike paths. It was really hot so we were not able to spend too much time there as it was too hot on Boomer's feet. We couldn't believe how green the meadows were.
Then on the way back out we caught a good view of Tuolomne Meadows with a storm rolling in. We however, did not get to see any of the storm.
Then on Sunday we took a drive up to Mammoth. We ended up taking hike up to the top of Mammoth from around the back side. It was a 10 mile round trip hike. We got a great view of the Minarets, Mt Ritter, and Banner Peak (left to right) from the Mammoth trail.
Boomer was so tired after the 10 miles that he whined while sitting by the campfire for us to let him go lay down inside the trailer. This is him at 7:44pm. Totally zonked out. Poor guy.
We had a great weekend and would love to go back and camp at Rock Creek again. I do realize that we ended up with no pictures of Ry. I guess that's what happens when you hold the camera, you are never in any of the photos. He really was there. :P
