Riding The Waves of Life: YOSEMITE In the Winter!

We could not have planned a better trip if we had tried. We drove up to Merced on Wednesday night and Thursday morning we got up early to head into the valley. It was worth the drive to be able to spend the day in the valley. It started to snow on Thursday around 11 am and didn't stop until Friday morning. The snow was amazing and made Yosemite the most beautiful I

have ever seen it. :)

We were supposed to stay in the lodge, but when we went to check in they told us that we were being upgraded to the Awahnee hotel. WE of course obliged them and took the upgrade. ;) Our room was cozy, but it was sooo nice to be in the Awahnee and be able to go down to sit by the fire place and read without having to go outside and take a bus ride to get there. We were spoiled and enjoyed every minute of it.

Many people enjoyed making snowmen in the snow, so we decided to capture their artwork. There were some very creative people staying in Yosemite. :)

As you can see on the left side of the picture the trail had not been plowed so we blazed our own. :) It was harder than walking in sad, but a lot of fun.

One of the hazards of all the snow and cold temperatures is that it makes trees fall down. We were driving along the road behind this car and watched a huge tree fall in front of the car. While the dust/snow was still settling another tree fell behind it. We thought the second tree hit the car, but when the dust settled we saw that the car was lucky and was sandwiched in between the trees. Crazy thing to witness.
