Adoption Details and Timeline/Steps

Right now we are at the very beginning stages of the adoption.  We turned in our application last Friday and we have been initially accepted by the agency.  We are pursuing a domestic infant adoption (I'm sure some of you were wondering).

We don't have a timeline other than it may take anywhere from 12-36 months from now for a child to be placed with us.

Here are the steps we must go through and the approximate amount of time it may take:
  1. Preliminary Application (1-2 weeks) Done! Only took a week. :)
  2. Formal Application (1-2 weeks) We are about 1/2 way done filling it out and will hopefully send it in tomorrow.
  3. Orientation Class (May 13th)
  4. Home Study/Family Assessment (8-12 weeks)
  5. Submit Family Profile and wait to be picked (0-36 months)
  6. Placement/Post-Placement Supervision (6 months)
  7. Finalization (1-4 months)
So that is the general process we must go through.  We of course understand that it may take the full 36 months before we have a child placed with us and that it may happen faster.  We are trusting God and His timing.  He knows the child He has for us and we just need to do our part and then wait. :)  (Easier said than done of course)
